Growing up I was always active in sports and dance…I think I spent more time at practice than I did at home. As I got older, sports became more scarce and academics became my priority. From research papers and study groups, to pulling all-nighters, I found myself eating more and working out less. Eventually I started trying the Beachbody programs, which helped me jump start my fitness journey, but I quickly hit a plateau and decided I needed a change, I needed to amp up my workouts and that’s when I came across a post of Facebook asking for females looking to join a 6 week fitness challenge…I was intrigued, so I replied.

Before I knew it, I had a meeting set up and I was on my way to what would become the best decision I ever made in regards to my health and fitness. I had heard about CrossFit from friends and always thought, “I’m not a lifter and I don’t want huge muscles”, but I needed a change and I was willing to give it a try. The New You Challenge gave me so much more than I ever anticipated. With the help of all the coaches, I hit goals and surpassed all expectations I had of myself. My physical limitations were pushed and it felt AMAZING! Never in my life would I have thought I could lift the weight I did and complete each daily workout. I was nervous at first, but that quickly disappeared once we started. I yearned for each day I got to wake up and go complete another workout. Not only did I feel better about myself, but I was healthier with the help of their meal plan tips, and I made some great friendships along the way. One year later, I’m still in contact with the coaches and the friends I made during my journey. Once the New You Challenge ended I took a break because it was right before the holidays, but I couldn’t stay away. The feeling of accomplishment CrossFit gave me and the pride I had in myself was not a feeling I wanted to go away. As soon as the holidays ended, I signed up as a member and began hitting more and more fitness goals and I have never been happier than when I walked into the box each day and completed a WOD. The New You Challenge changed my life in a way I never thought possible.
